The pop star came out as non-binary in May 2021.

The 28-year-old further opened up about the transition in a personal social media post earlier this week.

While addressing their fans, Demi wrote in a text post: “If you misgender me, that’s okay.

“I accidentally misgender myself sometimes! It’s a huge transition to change the pronouns I’ve used for myself my entire life. And it’s difficult to remember sometimes!”

Demi continued: “As long as you keep trying to respect my truth and as long as I remember my truth, the shift will come naturally.

“I’m just grateful for your effort in trying to remember what means so much to my healing process.”

In addition to the text post, the Skyscraper singer wrote in the caption: “I felt the need to post this because I often find that the change in pronouns can be confusing for some, and difficult to remember for others.

“It’s all about your intention. It’s important to me that you try, but if you make a mistake, it’s okay.”

They concluded: “Remember that I love you, and to keep going.”

‘PROUD TO LET YOU KNOW’

Back in May, Demi came out as non-binary by tweeting: “I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary & will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.”

Demi â€" who came out as pansexual in March â€" wrote on Instagram at the time: “Every day we wake up, we are given another opportunity and chance to be who we want and wish to be.

“I’ve spent the majority of my life growing in front of all of you… you’ve seen the good, the bad, and everything in between. Not only has my life been a journey for myself, I was also living for those on the other side of the cameras.

“Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all â€" I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary and will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.”

The singer added: “This has come after a lot of healing and self-reflective work. I’m still learning and coming into myself, and I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson.

“Sharing this with you now opens another level of vulnerability for me. I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones.

“Please keep living in your truths and know I am sending so much love your way.”
