By Tuesday, the fire had destroyed 21 homes and 54 structures, according to CBS.
Officials say the cause of the fire is unknown, although one reporter said the fire is 5% contained.
âThis fire does have the potential to spread and the forest is very dry,â Sweet Home District Ranger and agency administrator Nikki Swanson said in a news release.
âThe safety of the public and the firefighters is our first priority. Weâre in the process of closing several roads and trails to ensure firefighters can work efficiently and that the public remains safe.â
Extreme temperatures and gusty winds are also impacting the spread of the fire, KOIN 6-TV reported.
By Wednesday, there was 1,338 personnel battling the blaze with 22 hand crews, 133 engines, and 14 aircraft, according to KOIN 6-TV.
While firefighters are currently prioritizing saving homes, officials estimate the blaze wonât be fully contained until November 30.
The National Wildlife Coordinating Group issued a warning to Oregon residents.
âIt is critical that area residents and visitors are extremely careful with anything that can potentially spark a wildfire,â the agency said.
âThis includes not driving or parking on dry grass, following public and regulated use restrictions, ensuring chains arenât dragging and that tires are properly inflated. A small spark can quickly become a large wildfire in minutes.â
