Coronavirus infection rate in Bolton RISES again
The number of cases in the town had been falling for a number of weeks, however, rates across the Greater Manchester region appear to be rising again.
Bolton is still recording the lowest infection rate in the region.
This is after Bolton was the first borough to see a spike in cases due to the spread of the Delta variant in May.
Surge testing and vaccination was brought in to bring this under control with the town's infection rate dropping rapidly after this.
This had continued to fall for a long time, until this latest rise in cases seen towards the end of this week.
In the seven days to August 9 Bolton recorded 590 new positive cases of Covid-19, equalling an infection rate of 204.7 new cases per 100,000 residents.
This is an increase from the previous seven days, to August 2, where the town recorded 547 new cases at a rate of 189.8 per 100,000.
Oldham is the only borough in Greater Manchester to see a fall in cases in the latest round of figures.
All other boroughs, including Bolton, have seen a rise in cases with Salford and Manchester recording the highest rates in the city-region.
