Female Afghan soldier trained by US burns uniform and warns our life is over
A female Afghan soldier trained by the US has burned her uniform and warned others "our life is over" in a harrowing diary about living under the Taliban.
Kubra Behroz, 33, shared her experiences in crisis-ravaged Afghanistan under control of the military organisation.
The woman, who joined the army in 2011 and was trained in an American military programme, lives in Kabul with husband Taleb and their children Sami, six and three-year-old Sara.
But on Monday, Kubra had to burn her uniform because she saw on Facebook the Taliban have publicly executed a policewoman in the Kunduz province.
Writing on Monday, Kubra penned: "I burned my uniform in the yard outside. The Taliban have taken over parliament. Our life is over.

"I am on a list of people who should be evacuated because of my job but there is no flight. The airport is overrun with people trying to leave.
"I have heard that some people were holding on to the planes as they took off and fell to their death."
Tens of thousands of Afghans are still racing to flee the country, a week after the Taliban seized control. Kubra says the soldiers are "illiterate and uneducated" and "canât even brush their teeth properly".

She wrote: "Sara and Sami keep asking to go out. Sami keeps asking when we will go home. I told him that soon we might be going on a plane and he is really excited.
"I receive a WhatsApp that my flight may be on Friday, but who knows what will happen by then?"
But the family couldn't get into the airport because of the crowds. Harrowing scenes of thousands of people desperate to board planes terrified the two young children.
"We couldnât even get into the airport because of the crowds â" thousands of people â" and most of them didnât have visas or passports but were just trying to get out," Kubra added.

"It was chaos. Sara and Sami were terrified and crying. Sami fainted. I saw a child break his leg in the crush so we had to leave. Our time is running out."
The family went to a friend's house for safety in the end as they became too scared to try to leave.
In the diary published by Sunday Telegraph, Kubra told how the Taliban are currently searching peopleâs homes.
But the US has warned its citizens to avoid Kabul airport.

"We cannot stay here any longer but we cannot go back to the airport. It is
too dangerous. The Pakistani border is open but we are scared that if we leave, we will no longer be eligible for assistance to the UK or US.
"We canât trust anyone."
Meanwhile, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has hinted the UK would welcome an extension to the 31 August target date by the US for withdrawing its troops.
He said "no nation will be able to get everyone out" of the Taliban-controlled country.
